Donald to Claudia

Author’s note: This poem is a parody from “Mother to Son”, by Langston Hughes, about explains the same tone.

Now Claudia, you must learn this,

Always be the best because,

Life for me hasn’t been fame and glory,

I’ve took so much pain,

Since of my horrible school days,

I’ve lost and pout,

And been a giant loser,

Sometimes I even thought I was nobody,

But I didn’t give up,

I kept trying and trying and eventually,

I became somebody,

So if you feel like nobody,

The poem relates to the novel because it shows the audience to always do your best. The speaker is Donald and the audience is Claudia. The tone in the poem is perseverance and the mood is sad.

Never give up,

Because there’s always hope.
